Shine (to give out light): shine > shone > shone
When used to denote giving out light, shine always takes the intransitive past tense shone; when used to denote polishing or making something brighter, the verb takes the transitive past tense shined. Prefer the intransitive form when followed by on or from: The sun shone on me, The light shone from above.
