Parricide

Parricide refers to the murder of one’s father, a close relative, the ruler of a country, or to the person who commits such a murder. Prefer parricide to the less-common variant patricide, a perfect synonym. Parricide comes from the Latin parricida and parricidum; patricide comes from a post-Latin combination of pater (father) and cida/cidum (killer, killing).
