Digitalize has always meant to administer digitalis, a chemical derived from digitalis plants; digitize, the far more common word, originally meant to finger or handle, from Latin digitus (finger or toe), but this sense has all but vanished when its modern definition—to convert into digital format—entered our lexicon. Do not misuse digitalize as a redundant synonym of digitize: digitalize still has a distinct, specialized meaning of its own, and digitize already covers the technological sense just fine.
